Vanessa Kloke (*1984 in Bad Arolsen) started her studies of Biosciences in 2004 at the University of Muenster. She finished with her Bachelor thesis at the Department of Behavioural Biology in 2007 in which she investigated the spontaneous behaviour of serotonin transporter knockout mice under environmentally enriched housing conditions. She continued with the Master program Biology which she finished with her Master thesis at the Department of Behavioural Biology under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Norbert Sachser in 2010. Therein she investigated the influence of winner and loser experiences on anxiety induced aggression and hormonal status in wildtype and serotonin transporter knockout mice. In May 2010, she started with her dissertation at the Department of Behavioural Biology with the working title “The influence of a stimulating environment on cognition, emotion and behaviour of serotonin transporter knockout mice”. Against the background that some individuals might be more sensitive to adversity as well as to enriching experiences because of their genetic make up, it is planned to investigate whether the serotonin transporter gene rather acts as a ‘plasticity gene’ than only acting as a risk allele for psychopathology.
